Try running a repair utility against the data. We had a similar problem with phantom characters and delete marks appearing in browse screens. We used dsalvage to diagnose any damage to the files and binary data was found in some records, which caused the deletion mark and/or fields to become misaligned with the header definition. We believe the cause to be problems with our network.


>We are seeing "phantom" deletion marks when using FP2.6. In other words, records are not deleted but they have deletion marks, and SET DELETED is ON (meaning deleted records should not be displayed). We have verified the supposedly deleted records are not actually deleted, because they are not removed by a PACK command. After executing PACK, the phantom delete marks remain.
