Thanks for the answer. You're probably right: there is no other way to get it off of the CDX ... if we use UDFs, which I agree, will slow down the build of the index dramatically. Unfortunately, what can you do when you have a 2 million records table that must be indexed: it often takes 2 minutes before completion! You need to show the progression!
