Title:
Creating informative server errors messages on client
My company has just purchased Interbase to run as a back-end server for our international offices with FoxPro being the client. I've created remote views via ODBC in Fox to look at the data. That works fine if there is no validation (defaults, sets, checks, constraints) on the server side.
If I add validation on the server side, then violate that validation on the client side, on the tableupdate I get a validation error as expected.
The problem is the only error information I get back is a .F. from the tableupdate() and some lousy info from AERRORS().
What I'm looking for is something more informative, like which field was violated and why. Some feedback I can format and put into a messagebox for the user.
Is there anything obvious I'm overlooking? Any ideas?
Tom
