Hi Walter,

>> >I really doubt this. If all is build into 1 application and some data (with RI and stored procudures) I agree. But especially when you want to be your app as flexible as possible with the help of many external layers it might turn against productivity because of an increasing exception handling.

Well, I think here the one issue that would make a difference is in how well you have engineered your application.

>>Yep, popular under developers !! but also popular under clients ??? (in terms of VFP and the web)

Well, first of all I suspect that most clients couldn't care less what tools we developers use. Having said that, sure, we developers IMO *should* use those tools that help us to be more productive.

>>Well I don't agree. Especially when we talk about failures. The risk of failures is much higher when N-tier (with external layers) is used. Tracking and handling the errors is more difficult. I think I'll sit back and watch the progreff that will be made within a year or two, then I might draw the conclusion.

Well, certainly there will be more failures simply because there are more people using computers -and- more people on the Internet every day. Millions more every week as a matter of fact. I quite agree that your error handling must be worked out but in my mind that's just another aspect of the engineering issue.

Best regards,
Best,

DD
