That's exactly it - I don't care. You think I could build a Web server as powerful as Apache or IIS on my own? I don't think so. I don't want to, nor do I need to - the market is alreday full of web servers. Looking at the Kernel? What the heck for? I need an OS that works, not one that I can modify.
I'm a business developer, a tools builder and consultant. I don't need to waste my time poking around in other people's low level systems code.

http://www.valinux.com) has received some heavy duty funding.
There's also been serious monetary backing for Java and look where that's at this point... not much further than a few years back before the money rolled in. All hype, no bite.
