DynaZip is a commercial ActiveX product that can be used with VFP; it's pretty reliable, and works well with VFP5 and 6.

If your only problem with your existing unzip routine is that a DOS box pops when you run it, you might want to look at my API_APPRUN class (download from the Files Section) - it can run a DOS app without a DOS Window popping up fairly easily.
