Anybody have any tips on how to implement some security.
In the app I'm currently working on the average user would not be required to login or need a password to use the app, however specific functions would not be available to them (buttons and menu items would either be disabled or not visible).
A menu item would allow for logging in with a different pre-defined security level, ie. Principal, Accountanting, Administrator, ect... (this would in-turn enable those buttons, menu items, etc...)
My thought was to provide the login methods in my application object.
Provide a Security object which would be dropped on forms that require security. This would handle communicating with the AppObject.
Add lSecurityRequired and cSecurityLevel properties to all the objects on the forms.
The only thing I'm not quite sure about is how to have the objects on the form know when the security level is changed. Or am I going about it the wrong way.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
