I may be wrong, but I think the question is not necessarily what VB will support but what will ODBC/OLE DB support.

If you are talking about using VB deployerd on a MS operating system and connecting to an AS400 database, I'd look into finding out whether IBM has an ODBC driver or is an OLE DB provider. If so, then use ADO to connect to the AS400 and off you go....
