I just installed SP3 for visual Studio 6.0.
First, I had to install a data component. I successfully did that.
Then, when attempting to install SP3, it went through the entire process and was (I think) updating the Windows 95 registry when I got the following message TWICE:
Setup Error 168
Setup has encountered a problem updating your system registry.
Really bad. It did not tell me what the problem was, if my system registry is now hosed, what to do, no nothing.
How can I: a) Find out what went wrong, b) Fix my system registry?
Why did Microsoft put out such an inferior installation where it tells me something is wrong but not WHAT is wrong - also - no note if my Windows system registry is now hosed!
