What kind of NOS (server software) are you running? I'm guessing it's Novell Netware. If that's the case, the problem you're experiencing can probably be fixed my loading an .NLM on the server. You'll have to make sure the Network Manager (or whatever) is cool with that or you'll have to shorten the file names.
