Assuming it's a 486/66, the Pentium has probably 5 or 6 times the CPU performance of the 486. Since a lot of VFP is CPU-bound (especially the user interface) it's going to look a lot slower on the 486.

Also, 486s tend to have small amounts of RAM. VFP apps will usually run in 16 MB of RAM, but work much better with 32 MB or more. Low RAM = slow performance.
