Antonio,

>I have tried a compiled VFP 6.0 standalone(.EXE) application on an Intel 486 clone running Win95 and it is desperately slow (even when it is loading). The program is 1.6 MB in size. Is this a normal situation or can execution be optimized ? There is such a huge difference when running the same program in a Pentium 200 Mhz PC.

Well, There is a huge performance difference between a Pentium 200 PC and a 486 (? Mhz) processor. Likely the 486 has slower and less memory on board. Also the performance of the harddisk and Video graphics card play a part in the performance difference.

You could tune performance by adding more memory, but then again it will only improve it by a little.

In general i's not a good idea to run a VFP6 application on a 486. If you need to run applications on a 486, you might develop your apps in another development tool (Maybe FPW 2.6 or FPD 2.6).
