I've just managed to solve the problem. I had it about the same time as you did, but I've put up with it until now.

The solution seems to be farily straightforward. Deleted Browser.dbf and Browser.fpt from the VFP98 folder.

Now open the class browser, which will recreate those files, and all should be well. If not, the rebuild the Browser.app file using the source code in tools\XSource\XSource.zip.
