Actually, when I had the discussion with Walter about this several months ago, I tested it in VFP and FPD 2.5, and I haven't noticed that much difference between both. I rather suspect that the environment and we have changed. We used to have faster networks (10 Mips compared to a RAS dial-up line), smaller tables (who had to manage tables in the range of 1 GB several years ago, who had the hard disks to do so?), the concept has changed from xBase to client/server with a lot more SQL commands and so on...
