I hate to say this, but, you are going to have to learn enough about R&R to do what you want. The basic answer to your question is YES you can prompt or collect paramaters in your VFP ap and pass them to R&R. But, you can't do it without knowing how.

Now that you know that it can be done, get from your buddy the R&R Developers guide which explains how to interface with R&R from your program to learn how to do it.
