Don't know about VFP3, but I routinely use VFP5/6 to update and/or reindex tables from FP 2.6 apps, without any problems. Just can't do any MODIFY STRUCTURE commands. (and if you do, you can always COPY ... TYPE FOX2X, as long as no VFP specific field types were added)
