CODEBASE attribute not working

Hi all,

I want to allow a browser client the ability to run an ActiveX control without having to deal with distributing a cabinet file and registering the control in the registry.

I've seen the CODEBASE attribute used in the OBJECT tag and pointing to an URL address (i.e., http://servername/control.ocx")

Per my understanding as to what CODEBASE was suppose to do, I thought it would create an instance of the control from the URL location and run it on the client. If it is, then I can't seem to get it working.

If the control is registered locally on the client all is fine. If I remove the registry settings for the control and try to deploy it from the browser client through the CODEBASE, I get errors stating the "object does not support the property or method."

Any ideas as to what I might be missing?

Thanks in advance...
Michael
