I'm also not currently looking for a job either but I regularly check the classifieds to see what technology/tools are in demand (although not a great indicator by any means).

In the last weeks L.A. Times, the ratio of VB to VFP was roughly 20:1 (compared to about 4:1 in your area). In fact, I think there was only 2 VFP positions listed, lowest ever.

Finally, I think there's a big difference between consulting and being a corporate developer. I've also done "light" consulting work before and indeed the tool you use is not a factor. The client only want a solution and doesn't really care about what tool you use. However, it's different if you're working for a corporation. Usually, standards are in place before you arrive and future decisions are made by management.

If I'm a betting man, I'll take 4:1 odds over 1:4.
