Bob,
We create several report to be sent to customers through Notes. We found the easiest way to do this was by using a product called IDSMail. It works well with VFP and allows you to automatically attach your Word or Excel files to messages and send them to Notes programatically.
I have also seen some thread in the past couple of weeks that discussed how to use MAPI to do this.
