My full time work for the past year has been VFP/SQL Server. I refuse to move to VB/SQL Server. I would like to move to just SQL Server as a DBA and get away from being a coder.

>I agree with you too Jeff :) I've been using Foxpro since 1.02 almost 10 years ago so I love VFP. Through the years I've tried just about all development packages: VB, PB, Access, Paradox, Magic, SQL Windows, Superbase, ObjectVision, etc. not to mention all other xBase products. For some obvious reason we all know I've always fallen back to FP/VFP to do "real" work and have gotten away with it.

>However, IMHO, writting's on the wall: VB/SQL/MTS/nTier is the future for corporate-level apps. Not to say VFP can't do this but it's simply not the direction decision-makers are making or even aware of sometimes. Although in my case I have the ultimate decision to pick the tool, I cringe when I say most all my future projects will be in VB/SQL.

>>PMFJI, I agree with John. The VFP job market here in the Boston area is next to nonexistent according to the Boston Globe classified section. This hasn't always been the case as I got my current job through the Globe classifieds as a VFP developer and at that time (fall 1997) there were several other listings as well as headhunters looking to fill VFP/Foxpro positions. Now my headhunter won't even talk to me until I learn VB or some "newer" technology. I consider myself a VFP expert (if I may be so bold) but feel like a pariah in the software development market.

>>I'm not jumping ship yet but I am looking for another ship to make my leap less painful and right now VB/SQL looks like the right boat to be on.
