I agree with Wayne...usually when I have indexes go bad, I don't even get any errors, I just get bad results with the data, so you can't trap anything for that. Here's a suggestion that works in some situations, if you're really having a lot of trouble: put the table and/or cdx in a readonly server directory. Errors will pretty much disappear.

This also may mean a non-structural CDX, and more coding, but it may beat the alternative...
