For months, I have been reading the comments and inquiries regarding the future of FoxPro. I started with dBase II and followed the XBase progression chain to Visual FoxPro 6.0. I also started with BASICA through Visual Basic 6.0 and Turbo Pascal for CP/M to Delphi 4.0. Am I a great programmer? In comparision to all the wonderful advice given by others in this forum, no, I am not. I know that FoxPro is a wonderful product but as they say "when in Rome do as the Romans do". In other words, if your market supports VB learn VB, if FoxPro learn FoxPro. The alternative is to move to the markets where FoxPro jobs are abundant. I believe that too many of my programming professionals want to stay in their comfortable castles and only fight the dragons they are familiar with. The thrill of life is to go with a stout heart and brave spirit over the next hill into unknown programming territory.
