I did a little experiment with your example, and this confirms your conclusions, but I did find the following:
In your example you choose to lookup (seek) the same value again. In one of my larger tables (about 16 meg) i did find that if searched for random key values the difference between SEEK and LOCATE is much less. (About ten times in stead of 55 times). It seems that SEEK is holding some information about the current record and uses this for the followin seek commands.
I will test this behaviour more exact and will report my conclusions when i'm finished.
