No reason to feel dumb - but you've been sold a bunch of hype if you really believed that Win98 was a pure 32 bit operating system. Even MS didn't make that particular claim... < g >

The basic concepts and principles behind both Win98 and WIn95 are very much the same; Win98 could almost be looked at as the "bug fix" for Win95 (somewhat the same attitude i have about Win98 Secodn Edition, which is a few (admittedly useful) extensions like the Internet Connection Sharing capability, a mini-proxy server for Win98, piggybacked with Win98 SP1.) At about $20 for the upgrade to Second Edition, I see very little reason not to upgrade rather than continue to use Windows Update or download Win98 SP1 (which costs nearly as much if you order it on CD from MS as the upgrade to SE).

The configuration options and capabilities for Win98 and both Win16 and DOS are at least externally identical.
