>No, it's not a USSR republic, I agree :) But it is listed under its main island, which is Curacao...

That list is full of inaccurate names and omissions, and makes no distinction between territories, autonomous territories, and independent states (which might not matter to a philatelist, who only needs a list of stamp-producing entities).

The contents of such a list depend a lot on what it's for. They also require making political decisions that may offend some people. For example, the inclusion of Taiwan on such a list would offend the Chinese government. Michel Fournier probably decides these things based on whatever individual UT users want for their flag. I sometimes wonder if he ever stepped in any political cow-pies while trying to accomodate certain users. I remember that when someone from Macedonia joined the UT, that country had recently changed its flag, partly in response to pressure from the Greek government which had various objections to recognition of their independence (hence the name "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia"). Fortunately for Michel, we UT users are mellow people.

Some regions, such as Chechnya, Iraqi Kurdistan, and northern Somalia ("Republic of Somaliland") are effectively independent but unrecognized by other governments. They are unlikely to appear on existing lists.

I thought that the Netherlands Antilles was an autonomous territory of the Netherlands, and that one of the islands (either Aruba or Curacao) now had a separate territorial administration and was no longer technically part of it.
