>>>For example: New York was called New Amsterdam before they selled it to the english. Once up a time there was a vote, about what should be the language to speak in the east of the US (in the time of Peter Stuivesant). Dutch had only one vote less than english...

Here's some more info:
I checked my phialetic references last night - Until very recently, there were only two major Dutch "countries" in the West Indian area (the entire western hemisphere, in fact). These are Suriname (also referred to as Dutch Guiana) and Curacao. The stamps of Curacao were used for all Dutch Caribbean islands, until quite recently, that's why I'm familiar with that means of reference. In the past decade or so there have been some changes, the primary Dutch West Indies islands' stamps now say Netherlands Antilles instead of Curacao...though I believe both Curacao & Aruba are issuing stamps independently, it's a good source of revenue :)
The Anonymous Bureaucrat,
and frankly, quite content not to be
a member of either major US political party.
