I program in VFP and also have created several major projects in VB. The only reason I used VB was because the contract required it. Given a choice, if I am writing an application that handles data, VFP is the tool I prefer to use.

I use several foundations, in VFP. I created an application in 36 minutes with my foundation, complete with splash screen, error logging, security, and every bell and whistle you can think of. We put it to use, and a VB programmer was given the same task. Two weeks later, she still did not have the functionality of my VFP application.

There are many failed VB projects. I can knock the socks off of any VB or Power Builder programmer, because of the tools provided with VFP, and the knowledge of how to use them. Three tier, etc., VFP is the fastest development tool thanks to foundation classes, etc.

Using VFP as a front end or second tier is great. Lots of functionality, and little development time.

Mamagers do not take the time to examine the tools used by developers. They rely upon magazine articles, and word of mouth from the industry. If you want to create a successful product, use VFP. Otherwise, use Visual Bandage.
