Dragan,
>When I tried to learn some Dutch (and the word "Dutch" is actually mispronounced "deutsch" - which shows that the Brits didn't catch the difference between it and German in those times), and I remember it sounded like an incredible mix between English and German, with an impossible system of vowels and diphtongs, but sounded really nice.
Yep, Dutch is definately more difficult to learn than English. It's gramatic is incredible complex. Even we as dutch citizens can't spell things right. Every ten years or so they change one or more of the gramatic rules, so the avarage citizen can't spell things right (I learned the the spelling rules in about 12 years, and still make many errors).
Actually, English is just a mix of French, German and Dutch.
>BTW, do you still have all those crazy tourists on the Dam square and hippies staring at them? Didn't get to visit Nederlands for more than 20 years now. Have a nice dark Amstel on my behalf
Well the time of hippies was a long time ago, though many soft-drugs are still freely available (not that it's legal). There still are many tourists visiting Amsterdam.
About the beer: I really prefer a light Amstel instead (5%). In fact I drunk too much of these the last few days.
