While the foundation read stuff is good, I think U were looking for this. The "skip for" option within the menu builder is what U need. I have done this in the past when I wrote Fox 2.x code. I did not make the screen modal, but rather controlled which other menu options were available. Modal means that only one screen is active and that FoxPro assists you by disabling the menu automatically. So, first; do not make your screen modal. Next, create a logical variable that is global and is referenced in your Skip For code within the menu builder. This is asssuming that you are not using a 3rd party object based menu builder. I know some are out there, but I have not tested that water yet. I am pretty sure that VFP 4.0 will also have a object based menu system. This will allow alot of flexibility and remove one of the last remences of the old Fox 2.x from VFP. I have the MS Beta and I should look at it if I get time. I will let U know how it looks, if I get a chance. Well, Hope this was Helpful. Steve
