I'd heard of CommTools. But was hoping to spend 8 hours instead of $300 bucks.

I may consider ProComm or Hilgraeve's DataACCess. I used procomm 2 with Fox2.6 on an earlier version of this app, but reliability was occassionally problematic -- due in part to 2.6, ProComm 2.0 and ,no doubt, my poor error handling 5 years ago.
