Sorry. Must have done something wrong.
Here is what I do:
1. A do not link the files in parent/chile relations.
2. At design time I link the grid to a cursor (I know you do not like them, I'm just telling you what I do), using the recordsource property.
3. I create the cursor using the CREATE CURSOR statement at run time in the Load event of the form.
4. In the valid clause (Event) of the Salesman field I SQL select the zipcodes for the salesman into a second cursor (btw in any order I choose) and copy this back in the first cursor after having it zapped.
I have not tried it out yet, but I think you can save out the copying part by resetting the recordsource property to the cursor
