Hope I am not misleading you, but I have been wrestling the same problems.
1. I prefer to create a project, containing the form, and then create a .prg file, which will contain at least DO FORM myform.

For the menu problem, study the various options for the _SCREEN object.
Yoa can put SCREEN = OFF in your CONFIG.VFP file.

If I could consult my own programs I might find examples, I often find
it hard to remember the syntax and spelling.
