>My second problem relates to the file OFFITEMS.LOG in the Windows directory. This file grows to absurd dimensions when I do repeatode calls to Word97 from VFP, and create a new doc at each call. Scanning the log file shows the file names and other stuff. When it grow to large, it slows down opening or closing of Word, so I delete the log file from time to time to correct this, but what causes the file growth, and how can it be avoided?
In Outlook, there's an option to turn this logging on/off, somewhere in the Journal or general options - I've actually had something happen to my OutLook and can't run it anymore, but never bothered to reinstall :). Still, I remember I had one customer's machine taking more than two minutes to close a document window. Tried all possible things, reinstalled W95 and Office several times, checked the network - nothing. Then found this option in Outlook, unchecked it and - whew, it began closing immediately. You may imagine how much time I have wasted on this.
