In the Tasmanian Traders app that ships with VFP3.0, 3 of the
tables in the orders form that I have a question are are the
PRODUCTS, ORDERS, and ORD_LINE_ITEMS. When the user wants to
add an item to the grid, they choose the product from the
combobox. What if the user wanted to put in an item number and
have the rest of the info from the products table automatically
populate the grid, such as description, qty on hand, make,
model, or whatever. You couldn't tie the controlsource of say...
the "description" of the product to product.descrip because your
users would be changing the master description, and it would be
redundant to put the description in the ORD_LINE_ITEMS table. What if
the product number they enter in is not in existence, could the
system ask the user if they want to add one to inventory. I know
that wouldn't make sense in this particular app, but it would in mine.
Any specific details would be appreciated. My 3 year old son is going
through the "WHY" stage and I am going through the "HOW" stage!
