Good point -- I agree it is a meaningless number. Apparently the client is doing a survey and has requested the number -- we have done a number of systems for the client and are working on a large project right now. We'll be glad to do whatever they ask, but we will emphasize how meaningless the number really is!

Thanks very much to everyone for the other suggestions -- we are going to give a rough estimate [probably less than 10 Billion], but not the "exact" number of lines of code. Again, I didn't have any idea how to get a rough estimate other than to actually "count" the lines of code myself. You guys have saved me [and the client] time.
