No, but both emit native code rather than relying on an intepreter, and both have better hooks available to the Win32 API, and make use of standard Windows messaging facilities easier than VFP. I'd do it in C/C++ myself. Then again, I'm also a New England Patriots fan...
Also, there are VB examples of TAPI code in both C++ and VB, so it's that much easier to make the transition.
