If you know the ProgID of the control, check the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ProgID; if it doesn't exist, you need to register the control. You can use the FFC registry class for VFP6 to do this; you can download other registry classes from the Files Section here on UT for earlier versions.
