I agree with Eric. I have done some research lately into this sbbject, I added email to my reporting in an application.

The results were as follows:

Segate Crystal Reports - Expensive but handled email fine - no royalty. You must rewrite all your reports though.

PCL2RTF - A printer output converter program. Create a printer HP4 set to print to file. Report prints to that printer, PCL2RTF converts the file, system calls issued from inside the report methods email the results to address collected by report method. Royalty required 6 copies $135.

Adobe Acrobat - Report prints to Acrobat Distiller printer - can be emailed directly from distiller or saved as PDF file which can be put on web site. Reader is free but distiller costs $150 oem/quantity price

For my application we only had 6 writing users, and only email as a requirement so Acrobat was the solution. I have Crystal Reports but did not want to rewrite all the reports I already had (we are in semifinal debug stage now). The PCL2RTF solution was too complicated and not cheaper than Acrobat for us.

Hope this helps
Terry
It is impossible to make programs idiot proof. Idiots are too cleaver.
