In the on-line help file, under "Visual FoxPro System Capacities", under the "Other Capacities" heading, it lists:

Maximum # of characters per command line: 8,192

As for question#2, under the "Program and Procedure Files" heading it lists:

Maximum # of nested structured programming commands: 384

This may be what you're referring to.
