About question 1).
The only way to achive the number of pages in a Fox report is by running the report first. That way the system variable _PAGENO contains the total number of pages.
There is a nice tool desinged by Markus Egger called Genrepox that has all this stuff already on board. It's available here from the download section.

About 2)
The Fox system variables _PBPAGE (start page) and _PEPAGE (end page) allows you to control this.
Or use the RANGE option of the REPORT command (see the VFP help file for more info)
