In addition to Erik's reply, you should note that buffering and transactions serve two different purposes.
Buffering is exactly what you want to use for your situation. I don't know from your description if you need transactions. Transactions are used when a table's update depends on the success of another table's update. IOW, within a transaction you would have more than one TABLEUPDATE. If any fail, then you can ROLLBACK any changes that were successfully made to a table.
