>With your help and your posted files I got my ISE installation working just fine. Thank you. One further question: Can you run DCOM98.EXE on WIN95 systems, or do you have to run DCOM95.EXE? Is there any harm in running DCOM9X.EXE when not needed. Is there any harm in running DCOM9X.EXE on NT systems? TIA.

DCOM98.EXE will work with both Win95 and Win98, but should never be needed by a properly installed Win98 system (DCOM support is put there as part of the base install.) AFAIK, DCOM98 from the VS Studio disk is not redistributable, but the DCOM95.EXE that can be downloaded from Microsoft's site can be.

I haven't tried installing an earlier version of DCOM95 on a system with more current components, but I'd expect it to detect that more recent files are present and either abort, or give you the option of replacing the newer files with older ones.

NT will not allow you to run the DCOM95 or DCOM98 install, and will barf on you. NT should be checked to ensure that at least SP3 is in place before installing a VFP6 application on it.

You might want to look at my FAQ entry on how to identify if DCOM is properly installed on a syste; it tells you what the proper steps are for each different operating system in the event that it is not present.
