You are never directed to "one's area of expertise" for any of the exams. It purposely tests you in all areas. In the beta, they use every question, then throw out the ones that got the most right or wrong answers. When you take the live exam, you only get part of the questions. The exam program randonly selects the ones you get, but it will still give you questions from all the areas.
