Yeah, that's what I was afraid that you would say... You need to count the number of groups used. I don't have an easy answer. I would either include it as a column in the cursor that I am reporting from, or I would make a udf to count and then place it in the "Print When" section of the group footer.
Sorry there isn't an easy answer, maybe someone else will have some insight!

Lets say the total number of invoices on the report is 11, yet the total number of detail lines when adding them all up is 63. I want to get just the total number of invoices (11) in my summary band, but no matter what I try, I keep getting the total detail lines (63). There is only one grouping and that is customer number + invoice number and the report is based on a one cursor data source. I know that I could create an additional data source for this total, but for maintenance purposes and controls I prefer to get that total directly from the same cursor the rest of the data is coming from.
