>I have recently started using Visual FoxPro 6.0 and have been getting error messages when I try to run queries that worked fine in Fox 2.6. It seems that Visual Fox won't accept my criteria of lastsaledate>12/31/96 for example. The chart in my book shows that < or > should work for all data types. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I use this a lot to count two year buyers.

Provided lastsaledate is a DATE type, you should be able to do the following:
lastsaledate > {12/31/96}

Enclose the date with curly braces {} HTH
Oct 31 = Dec 25
