It may be a strict date problem. I haven't spent a lot of time in 6, so maybe someone who has can comment on this. I know you can turn off strict date compliance in the Tools - Options menu. You may want to try that since it will only take a minute to try. I believe that you can use {^01/01/96} if you have strict date on. Try those and hopefully someone using 6 that has run into this can help more.
