The MESSAGEBOX( ) command initiates a windows event that *can* trigger a sound... in Win NT, if you go to the Control Panel/Sounds, you'll see a list and the .WAV files associated with each... my guess is the sound you hear is associated with the "Question" or "Exclamation" sound types, depending on the parameter you passed via your MESSAGEBOX( ) statement. You can turn any of these off; of course, that would be a system-wide and permanent change; I'd imagine it could also be done programatically via a Win32API call....
