Start with article #233 in the KB under Articles, Client/Server on connecting VFP to Oracle. This was written for Oracle 7.x but it should still apply to 8. Make sure the host address to your server is correct as well as the port, community and SID. I have not had luck with the EZ configuration wizard getting all this right.
