This has to be true for IE to work the way that it does. When you open a link in a new window, the new window shares session information with the original window. it is more than just a ShellExecute with the URL- Demonstrate with the following:

Right click on one of the messages in the message list here on the UT, and select Open in new window- you get the messge you wanted in its own window.

Now, right click the same message (in the first window) and select Copy shortcut to get the URL in your clipboard. Now open a NEW instance of IE by running iexplore again (like you did to open IE originally). Now paste the URL in the URL box. You get an error message from UT saying that you didn't log in correctly. This is because the second browser didn't send the cookie alog with the request that UT wants to see on every hit so it knows who you are. So windows opened from within one browser session save session state, while new instances create a new session.

>>Ohohohoh that's right! LOL... I did do the right click & open in new window, then thought "now why did I do that". =D) It's IE all the way. Netscape as the default browser doesnt seem to have any effect on how the control functions. I had opened several new windows from the right click, and the shortcut menu on all of the subsequent windows still said "favorites" instead of "book marks"
