SP3 has revised code to deal with non-compliant printer drivers that leave the floating point and MMX registers in an inconsistent state (HP drivers are notorious for doing this.) It fixes some but not all of the problems.
If you suspect that the problem lies here, try using a different driver - one off of an MS operating system distribution disk rather than the HP driver. For example, if you are having trouble with the HP driver for an HP laser printer, try using the HP LaserJet Series II driver temporarily from the operating system distribution disk; if the problem goes away, then its the printer driver, and installing SP3 and redistributing the runtime libraries for SP3 to all affected systems may help. Switching drivers alone may well be enough; while the MS HP IV printer driver isn't as feature-laden as HP's drivers for the 4000, 5 and 6 series, I've found you give up little if any real functionality from an application perspective with it.
